Thanks for the question Cheri.

I’ve read that in some Native American cultures the dragonfly represents renewal after a time of great hardship, the power of life, and a symbol of rebirth. This appealed to me because I see that conflict (a time of hardship) can lead to enormous renewal of a relationship, if we can just learn to extract the meaning from the conflict – to understand what it’s really about.

In response to your question I also glanced around the web for other words on the symbolism of the dragon fly. I like these: “The dragonfly, as a totem, teaches skillful action while maintaining a free and joyful sense of being.”

I like these words because the Communication Dojo is certainly about gaining skill in communication, while continuing to have a sense of freedom to express ourselves fully. Certainly I’ve found this can lead to an increase in how much joy we experience in life…as well as greater ease navigating the less joyful moments of life.
